It's been forever!
How has everyone been? I can't believe we are nearing the end of May. It feels like just yesterday that it was Valentine's day and everything was pinks and reds. Alas, the end of spring and the start of summer is upon us. It’s time for me to get into gear and share what I've been working on.
… Patterns!
What’s a pattern? Here’s a quick summary:
“A pattern is the template from which the parts of a garment are traced onto fabric before being cut out and assembled. Patterns are usually made of paper, and are sometimes made of sturdier materials like paperboard or cardboard if they need to be more robust to withstand repeated use.”
So I have been working on patterns for summer since December and to be honest, it really has not been a linear process. It has been hard to stay motivated with work and not just lay in bed and watch movies. It was a shit winter across the board (amirite folks?) but I think, with vaccines rolling out and the weather getting warmer, I CAN FEEL THE HOPE IN THE AIR, and it's giving me life.
SS21 is a fun lil collection inspired by:
- How my 2 older brothers dressed in the 90's and early 2000's (Skater boi/ Quiksilver/ Tommy Hilfiger)
- Details and beauty aesthetics from the neoclassical period in Italy
Sounds random? 
Well, it kinda is, but this is where my head is at right now. What is the state of fashion now when we are all wearing hoodies and comfies? I kind of have an idea, and I’m working it out. Shoutout to my friends who constantly inspire me with funky outfits and flair for days.
Working on a collection with a theme is one of my favourite things about fashion, because at the end of the day it's all just story telling innit?
