I’m the founder and designer behind hijulez.I believe that clothing should be a source of hope, individuality, and connection not just another disposable trend. That is why I aim to create intentional, timeless pieces that celebrate individuality and will hopefully be passed down for generations!

My first introduction to sewing came from my grandfather, who gifted me a sewing machine, sparking a love for textiles and creation. Soon after, my dad, Trev, who’s an ER doctor, taught me how to suture, which served as an introduction to precision and technique that has stuck with me ever since. My journey took me from studying embroidery at Maison Lesage in Paris and fashion design at Polimoda in Florence to now working in my home city, Vancouver.

hijulez is a place where I get to showcase not only the final garments and projects I create but also bring you behind the scenes of my creative process and the world of hijulez.

Our Standards

Made in Canada

Each item is meticulously crafted in Vancouver, Canada. Many pieces are produced in-house by Julie and Madelaine, while any additional support is provided by Studio 310 when we require larger production runs. Studio 310 is a trusted local studio, also located in Vancouver, with a longstanding relationship with our brand. Keeping production local ensures that every piece meets the highest standards of quality and care.

hijulez is situated within the traditional, unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

Intentional & Lasting

hijulez garments are designed to grow and evolve alongside their wearers. Customers can return any hijulez piece for mending or reimagining, whether through a fresh layer of dye or a new cut. This approach encourages a lasting relationship with clothing, reducing waste and rethinking the cycle of fashion consumption. Custom reimaginings of hijulez garments are available upon request. Complimentary updates are provided on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibly Sourced

hijulez is committed to using deadstock, recycled, or eco-certified fabrics and natural dyes. Every creation is made with kindness and respect, employing sustainable methods that prioritize both people and the planet.

Intential Packaging

Orders are packaged in recycled tissue paper printed with soy ink. This eco-conscious packaging is minimal yet protective, ensuring that items arrive safely without generating excess waste.

Body Positive

hijulez embraces all bodies and creates designs that celebrate individuality. While we work towards increasing our size range, custom pieces can be made to ensure everyone feels represented if a desired design is unavailable in a customer’s size. hijulez believes clothing should be made to fit you, not the other way around!
